Slowly getting back into knitting, what with school being mean and taking all my time away.

ALSO! I looked through my archives. Oy vey. I deleted a ton of uselessness from three years ago (was I really that annoying?! …Don't answer that), and now Thinking in Magenta is slightly more clean, and well, tasteful.

Now before you all go whining about me not drawing the surely hideous clothes I wore throughout my tween years, consider this: from first grade to eighth grade, I wore a polo, plaid skirt, kneesocks, and approved leather shoes five days a week, 180 days a year. I HAD NO STYLE. I HAD A UNIFORM.

The only significant changes (besides my freedom of dress) are that I got my ears pierced, I stopped wearing multicolored socks, my hair turned inexplicably wavy, and the popularity of skinny jeans now shows off my bird legs all the time.

When I was six, I had a pair of tennis shoes that lit up when I walked.
At least my taste in kickass shoes hasn't changed ;D

It's snowing

I walked home today and took the long way, just because.
I stuck out my tongue and smiled and giggled when snow landed on my eyelashes and my nose.
I hate the cold. I hate being cold. Naturally, I should not like winter. I should like staying inside with some yarn, a book, and chocolate (which I do most of the time, anyway).
But…everything looks so pretty. When it's snowing.
You feel light and happy (not just because it's Friday) and want to stay out just a little longer.
I like it when it snows.

Today was a good day :)

was spent, as usual at the museum.

Fangirl

I have become one.

The Office season premiere was amazing. Funny, dramatic, cute, full of surprises. Amazing.

AND Pushing Daisies starts next week, and rumors and teasers all have something to do with Olive and—nuns? And apparently, a tribute to The Sound of Music haha.

In other news, there's no news. I still knit. Haruha is inching along. Mon Cherie is inching along. Fall is inching along, as I am reluctantly making the wardrobe change to sweaters and jackets.

Yeah, I feel your pain. How boring can my posts get? :P But hopefully I shall have some art done soon, so you'll get to see something other than my excuses to blog and not research my History project.
Also (hopefully) I'll kick my brain into gear and churn out some new knit designs. Cause the fans demand more patterns!!!

I do believe in the power of stuff

School and having to wake up 3 hours earlier than I'd like is starting to take it's toll on me this week.

Luckily, there are good people on the Internet :)

Lately, since my favorite TV shows haven't started yet, I've been going into what I call Avatar Deprivation Realization Depression. ADRD has come along because one of my all-time favorite shows (Avatar: The Last Airbender) ended with a spectacular series finale.
ADRD has me itching to watch three seasons again and again and AGAIN, and maybe a few more times after that, because now the show's over and what else do I have left?!

Then I came across this spectacular video on YouTube.

If you're not a fan of the show, watch it anyway, because it features a very talented girl playing the music from the last scene of the finale on the piano, and in fact, it is so accurate that I can play the scene in my head, and sometimes I even tear up because that is my very favorite scene :)
Plus, it is also amazing because she figured it out by ear. (Trust me, non-Avatards, it still sounds unbelievablely pretty even though you don't watch)

My brother has a YouTube account, and so he commented on the video for me, and guess what?!

SHE SENT ME THE SHEET MUSIC!!!!!!

The little things

Hey! You didn't really think I'd go without posting all week, did you? I love my readers too much for that!
*Note: Unortunately, I do not actually have time to post while on the beach. This post was written before I left *sheepish smile*



My new set of stitch markers! Made by moi, they feature random beads found at the rock bottom of my beading bag, some felt bunnies that were originally destined for earrings, a charm that was begging for orange nail-polish polka-dots, and cheap metal napkin rings that fit many more needles sizes than my previous set :)


An empty mint tin that now houses my tapestry needle, stitch markers, and travel measuring tape.


Unfortunately, these don't fit in the tin: my Hello Kitty mini-scissors that I found (after losing them when I was nine :P ).

And even though it's not at all little, I have to post this.

Excuses, excuses

Took a quick stop at Yarns Unlimited yesterday. It never fails to amaze me that one room can hold so much fiber; so many skeins, so many colors, the overwhelming need to touch everything!
In fact, this time, I couldn't choose!

I repeat: I walked into a yarn store and did not buy any yarn.

What I DID buy was this:

So vintage and adorable. This means there is definitely a blue, green, gray, or yellow sweater looming in my future. Black is just wrong. Besides, the buttons need to POP. So I browsed my queue for possible options.



Ysolda Teague must be one of the world's most well-known/popular knitters/designers. 1) She's Scottish. 2) Her patterns are amazing. 3) Her website is amazing. All of these point to the huge income she must be receiving from selling her patterns.
Of course, I'd be all too happy to contribute to that income :)

I'm gravitating towards Coraline. Not it only is it named after one of my many favorite books, Ravelers have made it look lovely in green and gray, and even purple!

The thing is . . .well, call me stubborn and cheap, but I don't like the idea of buying patterns off the Internet. I worry that I'll get ripped off (by the system, not the designer) and that the file won't download. Plus, it's not on my credit card :(

Well, I'll leave you with a sneak preview of some more fingerless gloves, and I tagged them with "designing" because even though it's Ysolda's pattern (again), I have less stitches, different numbers, less rows, and two colors.
Take that, lazy designer brain!

Sorry, fishy!

I can't believe I forgot to post about my new fish!

He was a graduation present from my aunt. Lava is by far the most brightly colored of the three bettas I've had before *sniff* (hence his name)

We fed him these little mini-shrimp-fish-things that he loved, but sadly they all died in a couple days, so he's on regular dry fish food now.
Although I've watched him eat those pellets almost as fast as he gulped down the live shrimp ;)

I'm so happy—he seems to like his new place so much he built a bubble nest the day after we got him.
