FO: Delusional Shoes

Shoes made by a factory most likely in China, art made by me

Mo gave these to me forever ago, but I managed to finish them in time for her birthday this weekend (surprise!). Now that the cat is out of the bag, it's safe to post pictures of these up here :)

She absolutely insisted on a dinosaur somewhere in the design, so…

All in all, they took forever, but the recipient loves them. Mission accomplished

Personal style

I loved Katie's so much, I had to do my own :)

Now before you all go whining about me not drawing the surely hideous clothes I wore throughout my tween years, consider this: from first grade to eighth grade, I wore a polo, plaid skirt, kneesocks, and approved leather shoes five days a week, 180 days a year. I HAD NO STYLE. I HAD A UNIFORM.

The only significant changes (besides my freedom of dress) are that I got my ears pierced, I stopped wearing multicolored socks, my hair turned inexplicably wavy, and the popularity of skinny jeans now shows off my bird legs all the time.

When I was six, I had a pair of tennis shoes that lit up when I walked.
At least my taste in kickass shoes hasn't changed ;D

Getting around

To knitting (FINALLYYYYY)

And art

And reading (for myself, at last)

To review his life, was like descending a green tree in fruit and flower, and seeing all the branches wither and drop off one by one, as he came down towards them.
'From the unhappy suppression of my youngest days, through the rigid and unloving home that followed them, through my departure, my long exile, my return, my mother's welcome, my intercourse with her since, down to the afternoon of this day with poor Flora,' said Arthur Clennam, 'what have I found!'
His door was softly opened, and these spoken words startled him, and came as if they were an answer,
'Little Dorrit.'

-Charles Dickins, Little Dorrit

And a new layout! Woo! Hopefully new buttons will follow soon enough.

Summer's nearly over. Sheesh, it went fast. Pretty soon it'll be chilly and wet and I'll need to wear scarves and hats.
…Hopefully not that soon, though ;)

I'll have to crack down on holiday knitting as well. Or at least, knit things for myself to wear in the holiday season, haha.

I want to make more socks. Hmm.

My current state of mind: presented in comic form

I have art classes galore scheduled for this summer. It's a good thing pencil stains come out easily (not so much for lead poisoning though
:P ).

Theory

I've been very much into color combinations lately…

Art class assignment: Create a sketchbook to illustrate your concept of dreams.
Inspired by Banksy.

The quotes are taken from a 2009 Carnegie International exhibit we visited. Overall really fun to work on :)

Potential colorwork item (I have yet to decide on a pattern :P ):

Leftover yarn to be combined! I really, really want to try my hand at colorwork (especially with my knitting friends making awesome things with it!). Possibly a hat, to match my blue coat…

Painting class project:
Inspired by Edgar Degas.

Along with those and other WIP's, I've gotten back into the swing of things, starting with THE RAVELYMPICS SOCKS FROM THE SUMMER. THE. SUMMER.
Second Sock Syndrome is a cuuuurse :(

Adieu

To my beta fish, Lava :(

To the blank pages of my old jotbook:

To art classes, which will end soon D:

…If I post on Friday the 13th, does mean I'll have bad luck for the 14th? (Not like I've ever had good luck that day, haha)

Tug-of-war

I am being yanked in many different directions.
I want to knit.
I want to draw.
I want to read.
I want to write.
I don't want to flunk school.
I also want to blog, but things are getting in my way.

So to hold you for now:

(Done during a slow day at work, didn't have an eraser, so some things were cleaned up a little when I got home, but I liked and kept the sketchy-ness.)

And also, my cousin lost one of the fingerless gloves I made for her, so hopefully I'll get to go yarn-shopping to make a new pair soon :D
