FO's: Anonaimal and Of Sharpest Mind

I'M NOT DEAD YET! In fact, I'm getting better!

Here there be FO's!

An Abalone in Araucania Nature Wool. I'll get a better, color-correct photo…someday. If you'd like a reference anyway, this post can help!

A House Scarf (from Charmed Knits) in Lion Brand Suede and Caron Simply Soft for my friend and wannabe-Ravenclaw, Christina!

I have hardly kept up this blog in the last year, and for that I apologize. It's always been more of a personal record-keeping deal for me. I hope I can get better at keeping said records, aheh :P

FO: Ma Cherie

<3 <3 <3 <3
DONE DONE DONE and DONE

Pattern: Cherie Amour
Yarn: Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica in colorway 115 (Flame)
Time: a little over a year (oy)

Why yes, it is very difficult and ridiculous to take pictures of yourself.

I am gaga over this thing. It is warm and soft and awesomely pretty.

Some specs! I made the body in the small size, but when I had knit both sleeves in small, even with blocking they were not nearly big enough to wrap around my arm, though my gauge was spot on. So measuring the armholes for accuracy, I reknit the sleeves in the large size, only to find they were much too long! I ripped them back a few repeats from the top before seaming.

Overall, this pattern is delightfully simple for a first sweater, and mighty cute too. I've gotten great compliments :D

Double the FO's: Stalking Socks and Oreo Mittens

Slipper socks in women's size 9 for my cousin for Christmas. The yarn is Jo-Ann Sensations Angel Hair, which is an absolute pain to knit with, but OMG SO SOFT. And they are the very neon-est of neon blue (which is why they're called Stalking Socks…fuzzy blue things instantly remind me of Monsters, Inc. :P )

Mittens for myself! I've been needing a pair. They look sort of large because, well, they are large. They're warm, but too thin to wear alone in Pittsburgh's windy winter, so the largeness leaves room for a pair of gloves to be worn underneath.

Both patterns were improvised, which makes me kind of proud, since I haven't designed a pattern in…let's not even count, ugh.

And speaking of accomplishments:

IT'S THE HOMESTRETCH, BABY.

Actually doing stuff

The very second I have a minute unoccupied with homework, music lessons, or obligatory comic creation, there will be some sleeve blocking, some seaming, and I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL FINISH THIS SUCKER.

Sun been down for days

Unable to think of a proper title, I opted for the so very original song lyric.

Onwards!
Presenting some recently acquired items:

A cactus

A bangle

Some buttons

A sketchbook

And better-than-classic literature ;)

I just downloaded an immense amount of photos from Phipps Conversvatory, so those should be up soon…am I forgetting anything?

Slowly getting back into knitting, what with school being mean and taking all my time away.

ALSO! I looked through my archives. Oy vey. I deleted a ton of uselessness from three years ago (was I really that annoying?! …Don't answer that), and now Thinking in Magenta is slightly more clean, and well, tasteful.

And with slightly less of these: ;P

Getting around

To knitting (FINALLYYYYY)

And art

And reading (for myself, at last)

To review his life, was like descending a green tree in fruit and flower, and seeing all the branches wither and drop off one by one, as he came down towards them.
'From the unhappy suppression of my youngest days, through the rigid and unloving home that followed them, through my departure, my long exile, my return, my mother's welcome, my intercourse with her since, down to the afternoon of this day with poor Flora,' said Arthur Clennam, 'what have I found!'
His door was softly opened, and these spoken words startled him, and came as if they were an answer,
'Little Dorrit.'

-Charles Dickins, Little Dorrit

And a new layout! Woo! Hopefully new buttons will follow soon enough.

Summer's nearly over. Sheesh, it went fast. Pretty soon it'll be chilly and wet and I'll need to wear scarves and hats.
…Hopefully not that soon, though ;)

I'll have to crack down on holiday knitting as well. Or at least, knit things for myself to wear in the holiday season, haha.

I want to make more socks. Hmm.
