It *is* contagious

I’ve been itching to design, lately. That sounds like something that involves a rash. “Yep, I’ve got The Itch. I tried the ointment, but it didn’t help. Don’t come near me, it might be contagious.”

I quote from Cyn of her Half-Assed Knit Blog (randomcyn on Ravelry) because it is true. I have The Itch and I feel that something either very good or very bad will come out of it.

Here you see mohair yarn. But not just any mohair yarn—freaking incredibly gorgeous amazing mohair yarn. I am in love with this mohair yarn. I want to build shrines for this mohair yarn. Because it deserves its own shrines.
Not only do I loooooove this yarn, but it is that kind of yarn that inspires designer thought to run around my head and say "Draw this! Plan that! Design those! Knit it all or else!"

But there is a problem . . . .
When wrapped around my neck, the skein of mohair feels itchy.

Me no likey itchy. Nobody no likey itchy.

But thank the good Lord for Ravelry. Because someone told me on Ravelry that mohair yarn shouldn't be itchy. You are supposed to rub it between your top lip and your nose, and that's how it's supposed to feel once knitted. So I did that (even though it sounds weird) and the mohair was not itchy.
Rubbed it on my neck again: itchy.

I am not sure whether to trust a complete, but kind, knitting stranger on this, or just go with my gut feeling and knit something that will not involve frantic scratching of my neck. So instead I will *sigh* set aside the freaking incredibly gorgeous amazing mohair yarn and design.

"What?" you ask. "Tell meeeee!" Well if I did, then it wouldn't be fun to not tell you. hehhehheh ;)

I absolutely love the way mohair looks and feels...and then it touches my skin. I am horribly allergic to it and break out in hives if it is in contact with my skin for more than 5 seconds. It really is quite tragic. Your yarn is gorgeous though--I will admire it from afar!
